So the next day Christmas Eve, I called budget car rental located in Ottawa Hills, OH and they had a vehicle available and they did accept my debit MasterCard and made my holiday possible. So a huge thank you to the gentlemen behind the counter for making my Christmas that much better and possible. Highly recommend them for renting vehicles!!
I am giving this Budget Car Rents 5 stars because they made my holidays possible for me. My car recently broke down and I had plans to commute from Toledo, OH to Cleveland, OH to see majority of my family for the holidays. Long story short, I initially pre-paid for a rental through the Avis location inside Toledo express Airport on the day before Christmas Eve. I arrive there 5 mins before they close to pick up my vehicle and the lady working didn't accept my debit MasterCard so I couldn't get the vehicle that night.
Mixed feelings. Jason who got us our car was super friendly and easy to work with, really like him. We did have an issue when we returned the car about being charged for a cleaning fee for dog hair- something we had Jason mark as in the car when we picked it up. The customer service was rough, not on any one person, more how the company is set up. I had to deal mainly with their main office in Detroit versus just talking to the local guys. So a lot of the time it took to get my money back was phone calls to the national office, who then needed to talk to local office to confirm it was like that when we picked up, then also because they are a small company there is only one guy in the office so often you call and can't get through as they are busy. I was happy I was refunded, but frustrated with the whole process of too many phone calls for a simple fix. Local office guys were nice though and though I wouldn't "recommend" per say as it was a headache if something goes wrong, I won't be boycotting either. Fair pricing and they had the exact size car I had reserved (unlike Hertz!).
This store offers the fast track program. As well as your debit card. So no need to worry about not being able to rent without having a credit card. And the young man at counter is excellent. He hear want you have to say and helps walk you through it.
Way more expensive than enterprise. $200 deposit, which is a lot. Poor deals. It seemed like the guy was trying to rip us off? They also had zero cars available.
I have dealt with this location going on 2 years now and receive excellent service every time. Anthony goes above and beyond to make sure I am satisfied. Which is why I keep coming back.
